Professionalism: I pledge to honor my commitments and contracts to the best of my ability and skill. I aspire to make every effort possible to nurture and honor others in my fields of work through professional referrals, supportive feedback, open communication, honest well-wishing, sharing resources, crediting sources, and supporting community events. I pledge to avoid gossip, “spun” truths, or the badmouthing of another professional or community member. If it comes to my knowledge that a professional or institution is grossly violating legal standards and/or is seriously and intentionally endangering anyone, I will report such person(s) to the appropriate board or organization.
Confidentiality: I hold myself accountable to a patient/doctor confidentiality agreement, similar to what therapists and lawyers must do. What you share with me in my office during a session is private and will not be shared with others. If I need a consultation from a mentor or another professional, I will ask for your permission first, and your name will not be disclosed.
Honesty: I strive to speak the truth, with grace and kindness, every time I open my mouth. If I make a mistake, I will endeavor to do my very best to own it and address it. I work diligently to understand myself and our world so that I can keep doing better next time. If I don’t know that I’ve done something to upset or concern you or your organization, please let me now so that I can make the appropriate amends.
Knowing my Limits: I will act in accordance with my licensing as a massage therapist in MA, and in accordance with my professional training and certification in yoga, dance, the arts and other therapeutic modalities. I will defer to other professionals if my expertise is not sufficient. I will be clear about what I can and cannot do, and will not attempt to replace other kinds of care.
